May 01, 2025: – IBA Karachi proudly hosted the All-Pakistan Inter-Varsity Archery Championship at its Main
Campus, bringing together nine universities from across the country. The event celebrated athletic excellence
and sportsmanship, as participants showcased their talent in a competitive and spirited environment. After
three days of intense competition, the University of the Punjab emerged as the gold medalist, while IBA Karachi
secured silver, and the University of Lahore claimed bronze.
The event was graced by the presence of Dr. Mukhtar Ahmad, Chairman, Higher Education Commission (HEC),
as the chief guest. Welcoming the guests, Dr. Mohammad Asad Ilyas, Registrar, IBA Karachi, emphasized the
institute’s dedication to fostering a vibrant sports culture on campus. Also in attendance were key HEC officials,
including Mr. Javed Ali Memon, Director of Sports, HEC; Mr. Nazir Ahmed, Regional Head, HEC, and Mr. Ahmad
Ali Rajpoot, Secretary General, Sindh Olympic Association, alongside team managers from all participating
institutions.
Dr. Ahmad praised IBA's efforts in organizing the championship and emphasized HEC's role in nurturing
professional athletes within universities. He urged academic institutions to create more opportunities for
students to actively participate in physical activities.
This event reflected IBA’s commitment to promoting athletic development and offering a platform for emerging
talent to excel. It also highlighted the collective enthusiasm and dedication of universities in nurturing archery
as a rising competitive sport in Pakistan.
