TUCSON: There is no indication that human remains found near Nancy Guthrie‘s home—mother of Today show co-host Savannah Guthrie—are related to the ongoing investigation into her disappearance, Arizona’s Pima County Sheriff’s Department announced on Monday.

CNN reported that the sheriff’s department declined to comment on who located the remains, when they were found, or why officials are confident they are unrelated to the high-profile missing person case.

Earlier this month, authorities released copies of two ransom notes purportedly written by the kidnappers who abducted Nancy Guthrie, several months after she vanished from her Arizona home.

Nancy Guthrie, who is in frail health with limited mobility, was last seen alive on January 31 at her home in Tucson. She was reported missing on February 1 after a friend alerted her family that she failed to appear for Sunday church services.

The Pima County Sheriff’s Department continues to urge anyone with information regarding the doorbell camera footage or the ransom emails to contact local authorities immediately.
