KARACHI, September 6, 2026: A trade delegation from Houston, Texas, held a meeting with prominent businessman and FPCCI Advisory Board Chairman Mian Zahid Hussain at Federation House Karachi.
The meeting focused on Pakistan’s current economic situation, trade challenges and emerging business opportunities. Both sides also discussed ways to improve the investment climate and strengthen cooperation between the business communities of Pakistan and the United States.
The delegation included Dr. Mubashir Chaudhry, Chief Executive Officer of USP Corporate; Pearl Vuobinen, Vice President; Alessandra Lin Mi, Corporate Compliance Manager; Mahmood Ahmad Khan, Managing Director of Star Marketing Pvt Ltd; and Syed Turab Shah, Convener of FPCCI’s Central Standing Committee on Corporate Relations and Communication.
Iram Fawad, Executive Secretary of the Board of Management of Quaid-e-Azam House Museum, and other business representatives also attended the meeting.
US Delegation Highlights Economic Challenges
During the meeting, the delegation expressed concerns over several challenges affecting Pakistan’s trade and business environment.
The discussions covered production costs, energy expenses and inflation. According to the delegation, these factors continue to put pressure on businesses and trade activity.
Mian Zahid Hussain stressed the need for long-term economic policies and greater stability. He said consistent policies are essential to keep commercial activity moving and support business growth.
Meanwhile, both sides discussed the need for practical measures to strengthen the country’s economic foundations.

Focus on Local Production and Exports
The meeting also highlighted the importance of increasing local production and exports.

The delegation also called for simplification of the tax system. It stressed the importance of improving ease of doing business for traders and investors.
Mian Zahid Hussain assured the delegation that the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) would continue raising the business community’s concerns with the government and relevant institutions.
Houston Delegation Seeks Investment Opportunities
Dr. Mubashir Chaudhry said the delegation’s visit to Pakistan was aimed at exploring investment opportunities.
He called for greater facilitation of foreign investors and said the government should create a more supportive environment for international investment.
The delegation also discussed opportunities for stronger commercial links between Pakistan and businesses in Houston.
Such engagement could help identify potential areas for investment, trade and joint ventures.
