FPCCI Holds Awareness Seminar on Oral Cancer: Causes, Prevention, and Treatment
The Central Standing Committee on Laboratories and Diagnostic Centers of the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FPCCI) successfully organized an awareness seminar on “Oral Cancer: Causes, Prevention, and Treatment.”
Karachi Pakistan : The Central Standing Committee on Laboratories and Diagnostic Centers of the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FPCCI) successfully organized an awareness seminar on “Oral Cancer: Causes, Prevention, and Treatment.” The seminar was held in collaboration with Rotary District 3271’sChair Inter-City & Joint Meeting Aslam Khaliq and Essa Laboratory & Diagnostic Centre.Addressing the seminar, Prof. Dr. Farhan Essa, CEO of Essa Laboratories & Diagnostic Centre and head of FPCCI’s Central Standing Committee on Laboratories and Diagnostic Centers, said that cancer is spreading rapidly due to the use of harmful substances like paan, gutka, chhalia, naswar, and other such items.
To control it, use of these harmful products must be avoided at all costs.On the occasion, Prof. Dr. Qaisar Sajjad and Prof. Dr. Hasnain Sakrani shared key insights on early detection, prevention, and effective treatment of oral diseases. Dr. Qaisar Sajjad termed oral cancer a “major curse” and urged the public to avoid harmful substances. He added that various sweetened chhalia consumed widely by the public are hazardous to health and a cause of cancer. Aslam Khaliq, District Chair 3271 Inter-City & Joint Meeting, said this was their sixth seminar and similar programs will continue in future with support from Rotary District 3271.
Tariq Alam and Tasleem Mukhtiar from Lahore joined the seminar virtually via Zoom. This is an important step toward promoting awareness, preventive measures, and timely diagnosis for a healthier society. Other guests included Dr. Shahana Urooj Kazmi, Founder Rotary Club of Karachi Nexus Kausar Aslam, Maryam Kausar, Lubna Saleem, Syed Turab Shah, and Humna Syed. Members of the Rotary Club of Karachi Nexus, doctors, and other notable personalities attended the session in large numbers.
