Federal Minister termed Uraan Pakistan last call for the economic revival and expressed hope in the Sindh Government under the leadership of CM Murad Ali Shah
Karachi, 24th Feb 2025 : Federal Minister for Planning Development and Special Initiatives Mr.Ahsan Iqbal attended first provincial workshop on Uraan Pakistan at CM Sindh House Karachi on 24th February 2025. The session was graced by Chief Minister Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah, Senior Minister Sindh Sharjeel Inam Memon, Provincial Minister for Planning and Development Syed Nasir Hussain Shah, Senior Federal and Provincial Bureaucrats, civil society, business community, academia and media persons.
In his welcome note, Provincial Minister for Planning and Development Syed Nasir Hussain Shah welcomed the guests and said that Sindh is the flagbearer province in implementing the 5Es of Uraan Pakistan program as it is already working on the economic revival, energy generation and conservation of environment.
Addressing the gathering, Federal Minister for Planning Development and Special Initiatives Ahsan Iqbal expressed honor to be part of first ever provincial workshop on Uraan Pakistan. He termed the event as a stepping stone and a sign of synchronisation between the Federal and Provincial Government on the revival of Pakistan’s economy.
He said that after partition in 1947, the two neighbours will be presenting their economic pictures in 2047, and hopefully due to Uraan Pakistan, our country will be having 3 trillion dollars vibrant economy. He said that Pakistan is blessed with bright minds and unlimited resources and it is our job to utilise these resources for the development of our country.
He stressed on the importance of export led growth and urged all the stakeholders to play their part in promoting exports. He remained hopeful that Pakistan can also achieve 10% growth rate.
He said that in past we had different economic plans like Uraan Pakistan to revive economy but those plans failed because of political instability, inconsistent policies, clash between three state pillars. But now, all of the state machinery is unanimous on the single point that Pakistan don’t have second chance and Uraan Pakistan is our last attempt towards economic glory and development, he continued.
He said that 40% children are malnourished and stunteded, only 13% achieve tertiary education, population growth is around 2.5%. Regrettably despite 30 years have been passed and our development indicators are still like some African countries, therefore, we have to make concerted efforts in education, poverty, population explosion and health. He announced that despite being provincial subjecs, Federal Government will grant supplementary funds to the Sindh to control malnutrition, Hepatitis C and other health issues.
CM Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah, acknowledged the Federal Government’s sincerity in economic revival and assured that Sindh is working diligently on the footsteps of Federal Government on the 5Es dimension of Uraan Pakistan. He thanked Ahsan Iqbal for attending the workshop and said that Sindh Government is ready to extend every assistance for reviving country’s Economy.
He said that 5Es are already part of his party’s manifesto and education holds superiority among it.
He acknowledged Prime Minister’s Shahbaz Sharif’s sincerity in enabling ports but lamented that our exports are less because Karachi port has a transit time of few hour in the night only, therefore, in order to boost exports we must equip us with requisite infrastructure and roads.
