A powerful explosion took place near the Noorung Railway Gate in Sarai Naurang, a locality in Lakki Marwat district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, triggering panic and a large-scale emergency response.
Police confirmed the blast, while hospital authorities reported that at least seven people were killed and more than 18 others injured. Among the deceased were two traffic police personnel, officials said.
Rescue and police teams immediately shifted the dead bodies and injured victims to nearby hospitals. Authorities added that several of the injured include women and children, and some remain in critical condition.
Hospital sources confirmed that an emergency has been declared at Sarai Naurang Hospital to manage the influx of casualties and ensure urgent medical treatment for the wounded.
Preliminary reports suggest that the explosion was caused by an improvised explosive device (IED) planted in a motorcycle. Security forces have cordoned off the area and launched a search operation to trace those responsible.
Investigations are underway, while security has been tightened across the region following the incident.
