KATI Praises Police Action on EBM Causeway, Urges Enhanced Community Policing.
KARACHI: The President of the Korangi Association of Trade and Industry (KATI), Johar Qandhari, has
lauded the efforts of DIG East Ghulam Azfar Mahesar, SSP Korangi Tauheed Rehman Memon, and their
police team for their successful encounter on the EBM Causeway, which resulted in the death of two
notorious criminals and the arrest of another. Qandhari praised the professional skills of the police
officers and their unwavering commitment to combating crime.
Qandhari noted that recent police actions have led to a decrease in street crime but emphasized the
need to activate community policing to further reduce and control street crime in Karachi. He stressed
the importance of the Safe City project, calling it indispensable for bringing criminal elements to justice.
“The group of criminals involved was notorious for serious crimes in Karachi, and their activities had
terrorized the city’s residents,” Qandhari said. “Daily incidents of street crimes have led to fear and even
fatalities due to resistance. Crime has surged due to unemployment and economic challenges.”
Qandhari highlighted the necessity of protecting industrialists to boost economic activities. “Economic
activities cannot thrive without ensuring the safety of industrialists. Eliminating crime in industrial areas
is crucial to attracting investment in the industrial sector. The Korangi industrial area should be
transformed into a model zone,” he stated.
He assured that KATI industrialists will continue to cooperate with all law enforcement agencies,
including the Sindh Police, to prevent crimes. Qandhari called for a comprehensive operation by the
police and other law enforcement agencies to target those involved in serious crimes such as kidnapping
for ransom and land grabbing.
