KARACHI – Commissioner Karachi, Honorable Iftikhar Ali Shallwani visited AMTF. (Afzaal Memorial Thalassemia Foundation). Dr. Asim Qidwai, Founder & CEO, AMTF along with Mr. Ateeq Ur Rehman, Executive Director, Mr. Sheikh Zaki Ahmed, President and Mr. Rehan Yaseen, Finance Secretary welcomed the Honorable Guest.
Dr. Asim Qidwai briefed the honorable guest Commissioner Karachi regarding the activities of AMTF related to Blood Disorders in children and treatment of Thalassemia on no cash counter basis. He added that AMTF concept “OUR PATIENTS ARE OUR GUESTS” has been guiding element in our quest to improve the standard of care and to respect children suffering with blood disorders. He further said that our aim is to provide better treatment for Blood Disorder Children and our ultimate goal is to have Institute Of Blood Diseases.
Mr. Ateeq Ur Rehman thanked the honorable guest for sparing his precious time and visiting AMTF. He said that AMTF is Pride of Pakistan and serving the community from last several Years for awareness and treatment of Thalassemia with the support of Corporate and Private Donors.
He requested for Govt Support for eradication of Thalassemia from Pakistan specially from Province of Sindh and assistance in Blood Donation Drives.
The Commissioner Karachi Mr. Iftikhar Ali Shallwani was quiet impressed with the Standard of Care AMTF is providing and showed his keen interest in assisting AMTF in future Plans of Expansion. He promised to extend help for acquiring land for construction of AMTF Hospital. He also agreed to grant permission for Holding Blood Donation and Thalassemia Awareness Camps at Universities, Colleges and Higher Secondary Schools Level and Public Places.
