KARACHI – Commissioner Karachi Iftikhar Shalwani has urged the industrial association of the city to play their role in the plantation drive. He was addressing the inaugural ceremony of tree plantation drive in Korangi Industrial Area. On this occasion, former President of KATI Danish Khan, Group Chairman Martin Dow Abdul Sattar Akhai, President of IAMKARACHI Amin Hashwani, Head of KATI’s Standing Committee on Tree Plantation Junaid Naqi and DC Korangi Shaharyar Memon were also present.
Commissioner Karachi said that protection of the environment is a collective responsibility and all stakeholders of Karachi including industrial representative bodies, corporate sector, and civil society should collaborate for it. He also appreciated the role played by the Korangi Association of Trade & Industry for tree plantation in the Korangi Industrial Area.
Danish Khan said that KATI has established a great collaboration and resolved to promote tree planting on every level. He said that patron in chief of the association SM Muneer also patronizing PM’s Green Pakistan Program and announced to plant at least 100 million trees all over the country.
He said that we are following his vision for this great national cause. Amin Hashwani was of the view that during plantation drive in the city the indigenous plants should be promoted. Abul Sattar Akhai said that environmental challenges could only be responded to with collective efforts.
He said that like his late son Abul Aziz Akhai initiated much CSR initiative the group will continue them with the same spirit. Junaid Naqi told that gathering that with the collaboration of Martin Dow and IAMKARACHI this plantation drive would cover the Surgeon Faiz Muhammad Road, from Brooks Chowrangi to Attock Refinery. He said that KATI has planted 100 thousand trees in an industrial area which was a great success.
