RAWALPINDI: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir has taken full responsibility for the medical treatment of Pakistani children suffering from congenital heart conditions who were recently deported from India without receiving care, according to ARY News.
Following the Pahalgam false flag incident, the Indian government expelled several Pakistani patients, including children, in what has been widely condemned as an inhumane act. These children are now receiving treatment at the Armed Forces Institute of Cardiology (AFIC) in Pakistan.
Shahid Ahmed from Hyderabad, Sindh, whose two children have congenital heart disease, expressed his outrage at India’s treatment and gratitude to the Pakistan Army. After years of struggling to secure Indian visas, Shahid traveled to Faridabad on April 21, 2025, where initial medical tests were conducted and surgeries were planned. However, on April 24, the family was suddenly instructed by Indian authorities to leave the country within 48 hours.
Shahid condemned the extremist policies of the Modi government and praised General Asim Munir for promptly arranging treatment for his children at AFIC, where he says they are receiving care beyond his expectations.
AFIC’s Dr. Mehboob Sultan confirmed that both children — Abdullah (9) and Mansa (7) — are being treated for Tetralogy of Fallot, a serious heart defect. He stated that their treatment will proceed in phases and that AFIC has the expertise and facilities to handle such complex cases locally, eliminating the need for foreign treatment.
Brigadier Dr. Khurram Akhtar emphasized that AFIC adheres to international standards and has successfully conducted numerous similar surgeries. The hospital is fully equipped to treat even the most complicated pediatric heart conditions.
