Karachi: A well-known poet of Pakistan based in America After the most successful 29th international Mushaira of Sakinan Shahr Quaid, the grand and dignified ceremony of the third collection of poetry of the eminent poetess Farah Iqbal was held on 12th May 2024 at the Union Club, which was presided over by the most respected and respected poet, critic, intellectual and educationalist professor of the Urdu world. The function was started by Dr. Shabbir Arain, an important member of the Saknan Shahr Quaid Committee, with the recitation of the Holy Quran. Mr. Nadeem Hashmi performed the duties of Nizamat very beautifully. Mehmood Ahmad Khan said in his opening remarks that the committee of the residents of Shahr-i-Quaid has decided that now they will participate in other literary activities besides mushaira and today’s opening ceremony is a link in this chain. Senior poet Ms. Nasira Zuberi gave a detailed discussion about “Strange Silence”. While appreciating the beauty of the book from the title to the printing, she said that through this book she got to know Farah Iqbal’s study, observation, and life in her own way.
Speaking about his visit to Houston and meeting with Farah Iqbal, Mr. Javed Saba said that most of the poetry in this collection had already reached his ears through social media. He said that poetry is the name of a behavior. Mr. President Prof. Sahar Ansari said that Farah Iqbal is a thinker with an all-around personality who is a poet, painter, anchorperson, and astrologer at the same time. Commenting on the title of the book “Strange Silence”, Mr. Anwar Shavit said that it is not silence but a scream. He said that thinking minds ask questions and in this book, you will find answers to many questions. He further said that Farah Iqbal’s diction has great appeal and he has an accent of his own which is rarely seen nowadays. Moreover, Farah Iqbal’s poetry is not influenced by anyone else. Their style is different. He is very interested in modern sciences and these new experiences are the justification for his poetry. Farah Iqbal thanked all the speakers one by one while talking about the “strange silence” and said that He always saw life as glamorous and glittering with lights, but still, this glitter could not captivate his heart. She was always searching for her axis and finally, she realized that nature was guiding her and putting her on a special path in which poetry was at the forefront. When the cosmic truths are revealed, man becomes silent and the same happens to them. Farah Iqbal recited his speech and he was honored with immense praise. Especially his poem “Do You Remember” was very popular. He also got a lot of praise for all the ghazals and poems.
