KARACHI: The core committee of the Businessmen Panel Progressive (BMPP) held a significant meeting in Karachi, attended by patrons, chairpersons, and representatives from approximately 50 trade bodies, including chambers of commerce, women chambers, small chambers, and trade associations from Karachi, Hyderabad, Dadu, interior Sindh, and across the country.

Participants unanimously expressed full confidence in BMP Progressive’s leadership and commended its commitment to serving the business community without discrimination. They pledged continued support for the group’s future initiatives.

During the meeting, BMP Progressive Chairman and Senior Vice President of the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FPCCI), Saquib Fayyaz Magoon, along with FPCCI Vice Presidents Aman Paracha and Asif Sakhi, presented an overview of their performance within the Federation. Their efforts received strong appreciation from attendees. Also present were Secretary General Khurram Ejaz and Supreme Council member Shabbir Mansha.

Saquib Fayyaz Magoon extended his gratitude to FPCCI President Atif Ikram for his cooperation, which he said played a key role in addressing longstanding challenges faced by the business community. He reaffirmed that BMPP is an independent platform, where all decisions are made in consultation with its core committee. “Our mission is service without discrimination. We are not driven by leadership or power ambitions, but by merit and accountability,” he stated.

Saquib Fayyaz Magoon, Chairman BMP Progressive and SVP FPCCI, flashes the victory sign along with Aman Paracha, Asif Sakhi, Khurram Ejaz, Shabbir Mansha, Adeel Siddiqui, Ghulam Mustafa Solangi, and others during the Core Committee meeting.

He also voiced opposition to measures like Section 37A introduced in the federal budget, calling them detrimental to trade. He stressed the need for the government to lower electricity tariffs to 9 cents per unit and reduce interest rates significantly to promote national economic growth.

The core committee announced Shujjat Ali and Shahid Ali as the Vice Chairmen for Karachi. The committee unanimously reaffirmed that BMP Progressive, as a strong and autonomous group, will not join any new alliances for the FPCCI elections. The core committee urged the chairman to seek clarity from the United Business Group(UBG) leadership, as their stance on future electoral collaboration remains unclear.

“Last year, BMP Progressive had allied with UBG in the FPCCI elections and achieved notable success. This victory demonstrated that BMP Progressive is no longer a peripheral or emerging group, but now stands as a respected, influential, and decisive force—recognized as one of the two dominant political groups within the Federation.”

The meeting also featured a comprehensive discussion on BMP Progressive’s future strategy, with decisions made to welcome new entrants and intensify a nationwide outreach campaign to expand the group’s support base.

Following the meeting, a dinner was hosted in honor of Chairman Saquib Fayyaz Magoon by Supreme Council member Adeel Siddiqui, Founding President and Patron-in-Chief of the Women Chamber of Commerce & Industry Korangi, Sahibzadi Maheen Khan, and Founding Patron of the Dadu Chamber of Commerce, Ghulam Mustafa Solangi. The event was attended by representatives from 65 trade bodies, including chambers, associations, women chambers, and small chambers from across the country—further reflecting BMP Progressive’s growing popularity nationwide.
