The Islamic New Year 1447 Hijri is expected to begin on Friday, June 27, with Youm-e-Ashura (10th Muharram) likely to fall on Sunday, July 6, according to astronomical predictions.
Experts state that the new moon will be born on Tuesday, June 25 at 3:31 pm (Pakistan time). However, it will likely not be visible to the naked eye that evening in Pakistan, South Asia, or the Middle East due to its timing. Limited visibility through telescopes may be possible in parts of the United States.
Astronomers believe the moon will be more easily visible on Wednesday, June 26, increasing the likelihood that Muharram will begin on June 27 across many countries, including Pakistan.
The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee is expected to convene on June 26 to collect moon sighting testimonies and officially announce the beginning of the new Islamic month. The committee’s decision will determine the official dates for 1st Muharram and Ashura in the country.
