In yet another story of cross-border romance, a 27-year-old American woman has arrived in Jhang, Pakistan, to marry her online friend. Kerinsha Madison Grace, a resident of South Carolina, had been in touch with 29-year-old Naeemul Hassan through social media for the past two years.
Their digital friendship blossomed into love, prompting Kerinsha to travel to Pakistan, where she converted to Islam at Jamia Arabia Darul Huda in Jhang and adopted the name Kaniz Ayesha. The couple formalized their marriage in the chambers of Advocate Amir Shahzad, with witnesses including Rana Amir and others present.
Kaniz Ayesha shared that her journey to Islam and her affection for Naeemul Hassan influenced her decision to settle in Pakistan. She also confirmed her previous marriage in the U.S., from which she has three children. She finalized her divorce before beginning her relationship with Hassan.
This comes after a similar case last year, when American citizen Onijah Andrew Robinson traveled to Karachi to marry her 19-year-old online friend, Nidal Ahmed Memon. However, the marriage did not take place, and she eventually returned to the U.S.
