Swearing in of newly elected members
15 members of PTI, 3 members of Muslim League (N) and one independent member took oath in Punjab Assembly. These members will also be able to cast their votes in the election of the Chief Minister, Speaker Chaudhry Pervez Elahi administered the oath to the newly elected members.
Zain Qureshi, Hasan Malik, Irfanullah Niazi, Mian Azam, Maher Nawaz Bharwana, Khurram Shehzad Work, and Mian Akram Usman took oath. Apart from them, Shabbir Gujjar, Zaheer Abbas Khokhar, Ghulam Sarwar, Aamir Iqbal Shah, Muhammad Muazzam, Qaiser Abbas, Saifuddin Khosa, Ali Afzal Sahi and independent member Pir Rafiuddin also took oath.
Security plan drawn up
In connection with the election of the Chief Minister in the Punjab Assembly, a security plan was prepared based on the Deputy Speaker’s post regarding the security of the meeting to be held on Friday.
Deputy Speaker Dost Mazari has written a letter to the Chief Secretary and Inspector General (IG) of Police demanding to provide security.
In the text of this post, it was said that the police should be posted in the boundaries of the Punjab Assembly and also in the House.
It also said that all security arrangements should be ensured so that the Chief Minister can be elected as per the order of the Supreme Court.
According to the Punjab Police, more than 1400 personnel will be deployed inside and outside the Punjab Assembly for security.
Officials said that security will be deployed for the assembly session after the letter is issued.
He said that the purpose of appointing officials in the meeting is to make the election of the Chief Minister peaceful.
According to the police, officials are being deployed to make the election peaceful and to protect the members.
