Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) won the by-election in NA-240 Korangi 2, Karachi.
According to unofficial results, Muhammad Abu Bakar of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) won with 10,683 votes. Tehreek-e-Lubaik Pakistan (TLP) candidate Prince Shahbaz (Kashif Qadri) came second with 10,618 votes.
According to reports, Rafi-ud-Din of Mohajir Qaumi Movement got 8383 votes, while Nasir Rahim of PPP got 5248 votes. Shabbir Qaim Khani of Pak Sarzamin Party got 4797 votes.
Provincial Election Commissioner Ijaz Ahmad Chauhan said that the polling turnover was 8.32%.
The result of one polling station was withheld
The results of polling station No. 51 have been withheld. The results will not be announced today.
Sindh Election Commissioner had announced to stop the results due to commotion.
Polling process
The polling process in the constituency continued uninterrupted from 8 am to 5 pm.
Voters inside the polling station were allowed to cast their ballots after the deadline.
Regional Election Officer Nadeem Ahmed had said that polling time was not being extended.

Incidents of firing
One person was killed and five others, including a PSP leader, were injured in firing and rioting incidents at different places in Landhi No. 6 during the by-elections.
After the firing, the polling staff fled. When the staff disappeared, unknown persons broke the ballot box.
During the firing, bullets were also fired at the ambulance of the rescue agency, while business in the area was also shut down.
203 polling stations declared highly sensitive
In connection with NA-240 by-election, DRO Nadeem Haider visited various polling stations and reviewed the arrangements.
Speaking to media on the occasion, DRO Nadeem Haider said that 203 polling stations have been declared as highly sensitive in this constituency, where police and Rangers have been deployed.
He said that preparations have been completed by the Election Commission in all the polling stations, while the government has declared a holiday in this constituency today.
The said constituency of National Assembly includes Landhi and Korangi areas. Police personnel were deployed inside and outside all the polling stations.
Polling materials were delivered to the constituency yesterday for the by-elections.
Constituency NA-240 has more than 529,000 voters, 309 polling stations and 1236 polling booths have been set up.
106 polling stations have been declared sensitive in this constituency.
CCTV cameras have been installed at highly sensitive polling stations and 812 polling booths.
The seat was vacated by the death of an MQM member
The NA-240 seat was vacated after the death of Iqbal Muhammad Ali, MQM’s elected member National Assembly.
In this by-election in this constituency, 25 candidates belonging to different political parties are contesting.
