The Lahore High Court (LHC) has accepted the petitions of PML-Q leader Parvez Elahi and PTI for removal of Punjab Chief Minister Hamza Shahbaz from office.
Chief Justice High Court Justice Muhammad Amir Bhatti heard three petitions including that of Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi and Sabteen Khan of PTI.
Barrister Ali Zafar, on behalf of the petitioners, argued that Hamza Shahbaz had lost his majority after the decision of the Supreme Court. A simple majority is necessary.
Barrister Ali Zafar further said in his arguments that the Supreme Court has interpreted Article 63A, Hamza Shahbaz has no legal right to remain in office so the Supreme Court should order his removal from office.
The court allowed the petitions for hearing and Chief Justice Muhammad Amir Bhatti issued notices to other parties including Speaker Punjab Assembly Chaudhry Pervez Elahi and PTI leader Sabtin Khan on three other petitions including Hamza Shahbaz.
It is to be noted that the Election Commission has ruled on the reference filed against the deviant members of the Punjab Assembly and has declared 25 deviant members of PTI disqualified and ordered to de-seat them
