KARACHI – The members of the executive committee of FPCCI expressed their great deal of astonishment, serious concern and distress on abrupt conclusion of EC meeting of FPCCI without proper disposal of agenda items which were of immense importance. They also criticized the unprofessional and unethical attitude of Nasir Magoo illegal president of FPCCI who was chairing the meeting and seemed nervous and emitting his frustration by shouting.

The meeting started with the resentment expressed by EC members on the mishap at Pakistan- Tajikistan Business Forum chaired by Prime Minister at Tajikistan. The members recorded their serious concern and condemned the attitude of FPCCI member due to which the Ministry of Commerce had issued show cause notice to FPCCI causing great deal of embarrassment to apex body. The member also expressed their discomfort on the activity report of FPCCI and raised several questions particularly on depletion financial status of FPCCI and ignorance of EC members in important meetings and functions of FPCCI. The members got their protest registered for non-receipt of invitation cards of FPCCI Export Award Function 2020 which was held last month.

The members of UBG also expressed their views on the election schedule whereby only 10 days were given to Trade Bodies for submission of their nomination. To facilitate the Trade Bodies, the members of UBG on EC asked for an extension of three more days in the last date of submission of nominations.

There were hot words exchanged on the formation of three members of the Election Commission. The UBG members vehemently opposed the three names proposed by Nasir Magoo who were found involved in misappropriation and malpractices in last election 2021 and facing charges at DGTO level and in High court. Documentary evidence provided to court and DGTO, proving their illegal acts and favoritism to BMP. The DGTO office has already submitted its statement that the members of Election commission had illegally allowed voting rights to Loralai CCI whose license was cancelled and Pak Afghanistan JCCI whose license was issued on 29 December 2020 and election held 30 December 2021. The last Election Commission involved in manipulating Pakistan Chemicals Manufacturers Association and allowing them to cast their votes.  The EC members lamented that the members of last election commission made a history of fraud as they secretly changed the election result in AGM what they had announced provisional result on Election Day which was duly signed by them and the then secretary general of FPCCI. This matter is under litigation   even today and enquiry is being conducted by DGTO in this regard. The suggestion of secret balloting by UBG for formation of the election commission was also opposed by BMP.

While there was discussion going on that agenda Nasir Magoo concluded the meeting without disposal of remaining agenda items and he didn’t even wait for the vote of thanks.

The EC members said that they have never attended such a meeting before as no decision or resolution was made or passed by members nor was there any economic issue discussed. They also said that the meeting was called without notice for 21 day. They also made comments on the formation of the FPCCI Planning commission which did not produce any result in the form of recommendations or publications. They also pointed out that the illegal trade bodies whose licenses were cancelled are still appearing on FPCCI Website reflecting the dishonest part of the BMP.
