KATI and Karachi Institute of Economics and Technology (KIET) signed Memorandum of Collaboration

KATI President Saleem-uz-Zaman and KIET President Air Vice Marshal (R) Tubraiz Asif exchanging documents of Memorandum of Collaboration (MOC), Zaki Sharif, Nighat Awan, Ehteshamuddin, Tariq Malik Wing Commander (R) Syed Naveed Abbas are also present.

KARACHI – A Memorandum of Collaboration (MoC) has been signed between the Korangi Association of Trade and Industry (KATI) and the Karachi Institute of Economics and Technology (KIET). The agreement was signed by KATI President Saleem-uz-Zaman and KIET President Air Vice Marshal (R) Tubraiz Asif, accompanied by KATI Senior Vice President Zaki Sharif, Vice President Nighat Awan, and Chairman Committee on Education Affairs Ehteshamuddin. Former President Tariq Malik, KIET Registrar Air Commodore (R) Nizamuddin, Director ORIS Wing Commander (R) Syed Naveed Abbas, Director College of Engineering Syed Najeeb Haider Jafri, and others were present.

The agreement aims to promote vocational training and equip students with skills and state-of-the-art technology tailored to the needs of the industry, by training students through future education and research as per industry needs to prepare them for international standards.

Speaking on the occasion, KATI President Saleem-uz-Zaman said that the agreement provides an opportunity for students to succeed in practical life by providing world-class education and vocational training.

He said that KIET students would have the opportunity to experience new endeavor harmony with the local industry which would not only enhance their skills but also create employment opportunities and reduce the dependence of the industry on professional assistance abroad.

Saleem-uz-Zaman added that innovation is taking place in the industry. While local industries import machinery, professional staff accompany it to the employees and train the local employees on how to use the machinery. If Pakistani students receive training, the needs of the industry at the local level will be met and employment opportunities will be created for the students.

“Most of our students prefer to go abroad, but if they focus on the local industry, there are many opportunities that are yet not explored, which can benefit both equally,” he said.

Addressing the occasion, KIET President Air Vice Marshal (Retd) Tubraiz Asif said that KIET was imparting international standard engineering training to the students. That is why the Higher Education of Pakistan has declared it as one of the best educational institutions, besides Pakistani students have proved their determination in international competitions.

He said that by promoting entrepreneurship and providing modern professional training, they should not only be made good citizens of the society but also enhance their capabilities to make Pakistan prosper globally.

Air Vice-Marshal (Retd) Tubraiz Asif further said that the purpose of the agreement with KATI is to provide vocational training to the students as per the requirement of the industry. He said that students in KIET are sent abroad on scholarships in various fields of research and development from where they are undergoing training of international standards.

He said that if KATI provides the needs of the industry then the students will be provided training according to these fields.

Speaking on the occasion, Ehteshamuddin Chairman Committee on Educational Affairs, said that only modern curriculum should be introduced in educational institutions and consistency should be promoted among the students. It has been generally observed that the students of Vocational Training institutes work with perseverance, while university graduates do not show that perseverance.
