World history bears the testimony that the Muslims were the pioneers of the latest science & technology. It is also evident that the Innovations made by the Muslims are now being used In the Western countries in their latest scientific & technological progress. To break the supremacy of the industrialized countries, we ought to induce serene technology which is the only way to eliminate the differences between the developed and developing nations. The present century is about to conclude and very shortly we will be entering the 21st century. The new area will undoubtedly open new faculties of science and technology, Only those nations will survive which will maintain or acquire technological and scientific superiority. Moreover, the gap in the economic development of North and South is also increasing due to the disparity in the access to scientific and technological know-how.

Keeping in view the existing state and future patterns of economic development, our present government has very rightly introduced the free economic system with a basic thrust on industrialization. Industrialization is a prerequisite for our economic development, national well-being, adequate employment, elimination of poverty, and mustering national strength. In this regard, the significance of science & technology cannot be over-emphasized. Technology plays a key role in the achievement of success in industrialization.

If Pakistan is to compete effectively at home and in the world markets, the policies and institutions will have to encourage efforts to narrow the widening gap between the domestic and international stock of technological know-how. Industry can work efficiently only if it receives enough information about opportunities, competitions, technological alternatives to respond to business decisions and changing international markets.

Keeping in view, the importance of science & technology in the economic development of the country and for a step ahead to the promotion of industrial activities | recommend that.

1)         A comprehensive plan should be designed and introduced for the promotion and commercialization of locally developed technologies.

2)         The deletion policy should be strictly followed and implemented for process of indigenization.

3)         Special emphasis should be laid upon standardization, specification, and quality control of the products to compete with international standards.

4)         The communication gap between private/public sectors and educational institutions should be bridged. This would help for the dissemination of timely and pertinent information. It would also accomplish a liaison to fulfill the requirements of existing and future technological and scientific needs of the country.

5)         The government may create a “science fund” to promote the use of science and technology in trade and industry. The business community may be asked to contribute to the fund. Lucrative incentives may specifically be granted to the larger contributors of the science fund.

6)         There are a number of Pakistani scientists & experts working abroad, who wish to come back. But due to in conducive environment in the country, are not doing so. To attract the highly skilled scientists and experts, a package of relaxation in their housing transportation, etc. may be offered, so that their expertise can be used for the promotion of science & technology in the country.

7)         Special efforts should be evolved to reduce the brain drain of domestic scientists and technologists to strengthen the base of the country.

8)         The government of Pakistan, ministry of industries, production division, and defence production division must share technological information with the private sector with a clear and a defined aim to promote the indigenization process in all sectors of industry.

The foregoing suggestions are made with the hope that the people and the lobby must serious the world is rapidly changing to a technological society, most of the nations have defined their clear and precise aim to develop and strengthen in the areas of art, science, engineering, and technology.

In the case of Pakistan, Agricultural Economy was the major Bank for the last forty years, while we missed the link to science & technology.
