ISLAMABAD – After the completion of counting of votes, the results of the 37 seats of the Senate are pouring in from Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan.
Islamabad
According to unofficial results, opposition’s joint candidate Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani has secured victory on general seat while Fozia Arshad of PTI has won on women seat in the Federal Capital.
Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani defeated Finance Minister Abdul Hafeez Shaikh by securing 169 votes, while the latter got 164 votes.
Total votes polled for the general seat were 340, while seven votes were rejected.
Fozia Arshad of PTI got 174, while PML-N candidate Farzana Kausar bagged 161 votes.
Three hundred and forty votes were polled in this category, while five of them were rejected.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa
Gurdeep Singh of Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaaf has won the minority seat of Senate from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa by securing 103 votes.
His rival Ranjeet Singh of JUI(F) secured 25 votes.
On women seats, Sania Nishtar and Falak Naz of PTI won both their Women seats of Senate from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Sania Nishtar got 56 while Falak Naz clinched 51 votes.
Inayat Begum of Jamaat-e-Islami secured 36 votes.
Balochistan
According to un-official results, in Balochistan, Manzoor Ahmed Kakar, Sarfraz Bugti and Prince Ahmed Umer Ahmedzai of Balochistan Awami Party, Muhammad Qasim of Balochistan National Party, Moulana Abdul Ghafoor Haideri of Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam (F) Umer Farooq of Awami National Party, Muhammad Abdul Qadir Independent on General Seats have been declared winner. Likewise, Saeed Ahmed Hashmi of Balochistan Awami Party and Kamran Murtaza of JUI (F) have won on Technocrats/Ulema seats.
Samina Mumtaz of Balochistan Awami Party and an independent candidate Nasima Ahsan won on women seats.
Similarly, on one Minority seat Danesh Kumar of Balochistan Awami Party remained successful.
Punjab
In Punjab, where candidates for all eleven seats have already been elected unopposed.
Pakistan Tahreek e Insaf has secured 6 seats while PML(N) five seats from Punjab unopposed which include general, technocrats and women seats.
The candidates who have been declared elected unopposed on General seats in Punjab include PTI’s Saifullah Sarwar Khan Niazi, Aun Abbas, Ejaz Ahmad Chaudhry and Kamil Ali Agha while PML-N’s Afnan-Ullah Khan, Sajid Mir and Irfan Siddiqui.
PML-N’s Azam Nazir Tarar and PTI’s Barrister Syed Ali Zafar have been declared elected unopposed on the Technocrat seats while PTI’s Dr. Zarqa Suharwardy Taimur and PML-N’s Saadia Abbasi on the Women seats.
