BYD-MMC selects 10 women for its She Runs training programme ahead of Karachi Marathon 2027.

Mega Motor Company (MMC), through its BYD-MMC ‘She Runs’ initiative, has attracted more than 500 applications from women seeking professional running training and support.

The initiative aims to encourage greater female participation in long-distance running through structured coaching, fitness guidance and dedicated support. It forms part of MMC’s sponsorship of the BYD Karachi Marathon for the second consecutive year. The marathon is scheduled for January 3, 2027.

Following the strong response, organisers shortlisted 50 candidates for the final selection event at Ramada Creek, Karachi. The candidates underwent a 10-kilometre endurance run, warm-up and cool-down drills, fitness assessments, interviews and medical evaluations.

After the selection process, organisers chose 10 women to join the programme.

Professional Coaches to Lead Training

Shah Faisal Khan, Co-Founder of Platinum Fitness and a strength and conditioning coach specialising in marathon performance and rehabilitation, is leading the selection and training process.

He is working alongside Uzma Abid, a marathon runner and running coach associated with UESCA and MatrixFit.

The selected participants will now begin a structured 10-week training programme ahead of the BYD Karachi Marathon 2027. Professional coaches will guide them in building endurance, improving performance and preparing for race day.

MMC Highlights Women’s Participation in Sport

Commenting on the initiative, Anum Abdullah, Senior General Manager for HR, Administration and CSR at Mega Motor Company, said Pakistan had many women with the ambition and determination to pursue sports.

However, she noted that access to structured training and support remained a challenge.

Abdullah said the response to ‘She Runs’ demonstrated the interest and potential among women. She added that MMC aims to help participants turn their ambitions into achievements while encouraging more women to take up running.

Through ‘She Runs’ and its continued association with the BYD Karachi Marathon 2027, MMC aims to promote healthier lifestyles, wider participation in sports and opportunities for emerging athletic talent in Pakistan.

The initiative reflects the company’s stated commitment to supporting movement beyond mobility.
