Khushhali Microfinance Bank Wins Two Awards at PMN Annual Conference

Khushhali Microfinance Bank receives two awards at the Pakistan Microfinance Network’s annual conference.
Khushhali Microfinance Bank Limited (KMBL) has won two awards at the Pakistan Microfinance Network’s 10th Annual Microfinance Conference (AMC-X). The bank received the awards for Best Turnaround Microfinance Bank and Best Housing Finance MFB.
The Pakistan Microfinance Network organised the conference in collaboration with the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO). The event took place under the European Union-funded PAIDAR programme.
The awards recognise KMBL’s reported financial recovery, improved portfolio quality and expansion of housing finance. The bank has also continued to support microenterprises, agriculture and affordable financial services.
Bank Reports Rs7.6 Billion Financial Improvement
KMBL recorded a significant financial turnaround in FY2025. According to the bank, it moved from a loss of Rs3.6 billion in FY2024 to a pre-tax profit of Rs4 billion in FY2025. This represented a year-on-year improvement of Rs7.6 billion.

The bank also reported a decline in its 90-day portfolio-at-risk indicator, known as PAR90. The ratio fell from 6.2% to 3.8%, reflecting an improvement in the reported quality of its loan portfolio.
KMBL President and CEO Aameer Karachiwalla attributed the progress to a series of operational and financial measures.
He said the bank focused on reducing balance-sheet risk, lowering deposit costs and improving collections. It also diversified its lending portfolio and strengthened loan verification.
Furthermore, KMBL invested in technology to improve credit assessment. It also deployed specialised teams to strengthen collection and recovery efforts.
Karachiwalla said the awards reflected the commitment and focused efforts of the bank’s employees. He also praised the teams for adapting to organisational changes and helping build a more resilient institution.
Housing Finance Portfolio Expands
Affordable housing remains a strategic priority for KMBL in 2026. The bank reported a 47% increase in housing finance borrowers and 56% growth in its housing portfolio during the year.
By September 2026, KMBL had reached Rs21 billion in cumulative disbursements for housing and home improvement, according to the bank.
The institution has also supported government-backed housing subsidy schemes. Under the Mera Pakistan Mera Ghar programme, launched in 2021, it disbursed 2,103 loans worth a total of Rs3.313 billion.
Under the Wazir-e-Azam Apna Ghar Scheme, the bank had approved 437 loans and disbursed approximately Rs945 million to low-income households by September 2026.

Founded in 2000, Khushhali Microfinance Bank provides financial services to customers in rural and urban communities across Pakistan.
Its services include savings, credit, insurance, remittances and digital banking solutions. The bank also supports microentrepreneurs and underserved communities through its nationwide network.
KMBL said the two awards reinforce its commitment to institutional resilience and financial inclusion. Its housing finance initiatives also aim to expand access to affordable housing and home improvement financing.
