‘Ghubar-e-Dil’ Poetry Collection by Mazhar Haani Launched at Governor House
Mazhar Haani’s poetry collection ‘Ghubar-e-Dil’ launched at Governor House Karachi.
Renowned poet and journalist Mahmood Sham has praised the poetic work of Mazhar Haani, saying that creating powerful poetry in short metres is itself an art.
He made the remarks while delivering the presidential address at the launch ceremony of “Ghubar-e-Dil”, a poetry collection by noted poet and social activist Mazhar Haani.
The event was organised by Sakinaan-e-Shehr-e-Qaid at Governor House Karachi. Governor Sindh Syed Nihal Hashmi attended the ceremony as the chief guest.
Mahmood Sham praises Mazhar Haani’s poetry
Mahmood Ahmad Khan delivered the welcome address. He paid tribute to Mazhar Haani’s social and welfare services.
He said Mazhar Haani had consistently supported social and welfare causes. He also praised his long-standing commitment to serving the community.
Salman Siddiqui hosted the ceremony. Other speakers included Rizwan Siddiqui, who attended as guest of honour, Akhlaq Ahmad, Dr Rukhsana Saba, Abid Hussain and Owais Afaqi.
Khalid Irfan and Akhtar Saeedi also presented poetic tributes to Mazhar Haani.
‘Ghubar-e-Dil’ contains 60 ghazals
Mahmood Sham said reading “Ghubar-e-Dil” reminded him of Mazhar Haani’s welfare work.

He described Haani as a sensitive and compassionate person. He said such qualities naturally found expression through poetry.
According to Mahmood Sham, the collection contains 60 ghazals. He said the poems carry the depth and essence of several diwans.
He also praised the selection of poetry in the collection. He noted the use of fresh metaphors, symbols and similes.
Mahmood Sham said producing meaningful poetry within short metres requires considerable skill. He described this ability as an important aspect of poetic art.
Governor highlights Haani’s literary journey
Governor Sindh Syed Nihal Hashmi said he had longstanding ties with Mazhar Haani’s family.
He recalled learning a great deal from Haani’s father. He also acknowledged Mazhar Haani’s contribution to social and welfare activities.
The governor said he had followed Haani’s literary journey for many years. He recalled hearing him at a mushaira at the Presidential Palace in Islamabad.
He also said he had seen Haani recite his ghazals at international mushairas.
According to the governor, social and community life has a strong presence in Mazhar Haani’s poetry. He said this connection gives his work a distinct character.
The ceremony brought together writers, poets, journalists, social workers and literary figures. Speakers paid tribute to Mazhar Haani’s contribution to both literature and community welfare.
The launch of “Ghubar-e-Dil” marked another addition to Karachi’s literary and cultural activities.
