Governor Sindh Urges Photojournalists to Promote Positive Image of Pakistan

Governor Sindh Syed Muhammad Nehal Hashmi has urged photojournalists to use their professional skills to promote a positive image of Pakistan and encourage constructive thinking in society.

He made the remarks during a meeting with a delegation of photojournalists at Governor House Karachi. Senior photojournalist and former President of the Pakistan Association of Press Photographers (PAPP), Athar Khan, led the delegation.

The delegation included former PAPP Presidents Syed Abbas Mehdi and Syed Hamid Hussain, along with Governing Body member Syed Imran Ali.

Governor highlights the power of photography

Speaking at the meeting, Governor Sindh described photojournalists as an important and powerful means of communication.

He said photographs can convey messages more effectively than many words. He also stressed the importance of timely and effective photography in journalism.

According to Hashmi, photography is not merely a professional skill. He described it as an art that requires creativity, responsibility and awareness.

The Governor also highlighted the need to introduce younger generations to the art of photography. He said the rapid growth of social media has further increased the importance of photojournalism.

Call for responsible journalism

Governor Hashmi urged photojournalists to use their skills to highlight the positive image of the country and its people.

He called for constructive thinking and responsible journalism. He also urged media professionals to avoid criticism, ridicule and content created only for temporary entertainment.

Hashmi said positive and dignified journalism can contribute to healthier public discourse. He also stressed the responsibility of photojournalists in shaping how events and society are viewed.

Photojournalists congratulate Governor

During the meeting, former PAPP President Syed Abbas Mehdi congratulated Syed Muhammad Nehal Hashmi on assuming the office of Governor Sindh.

Mehdi presented a bouquet to the Governor on behalf of the delegation.

The delegation also thanked Governor Hashmi for recognising the professional role of photojournalists.

The visiting photojournalists expressed their commitment to continuing their professional responsibilities. They pledged to contribute through positive, responsible and effective photojournalism.
