Zohran Mamdani Highlights World Cup Final Event
Mayor Zohran Mamdani announced the plan with Governor Kathy Hochul on Monday. According to officials, the event aims to create a memorable viewing experience for local fans.
“The most iconic match of the most iconic tournament in the world deserves to be watched in the most iconic park in the world,” Mamdani told reporters.
Moreover, city leaders view the watch party as more than a sports event. They expect it to attract local residents and international visitors. As a result, Central Park could become a focal point during the tournament.

Kathy Hochul Funds World Cup Final Gathering
Governor Kathy Hochul said New York State will provide $6 million for the event.
“This is the summertime go-to spot for New Yorkers, and now it’ll be the city’s front row seat to that beautiful game,” Hochul stated.
Additionally, the funding will cover event operations, security, crowd management, and technical support. However, officials have not yet shared a complete event schedule.
MetLife Stadium Hosts World Cup Final
MetLife Stadium will host the World Cup Final just outside New York City.
Meanwhile, FIFA will temporarily rename the venue New York New Jersey Stadium during the tournament. The change follows FIFA sponsorship guidelines.
Many fans may choose the Central Park screening instead of attending the match. Therefore, officials expect strong turnout at the public event.
North American World Cup Begins Thursday
Canada, Mexico, and the United States will co-host the tournament. Notably, organizers will kick off the competition on Thursday.
