Male — H.E. Vice Admiral (R) Faisal Rasul Lodhi, High Commissioner of Pakistan, called on the newly appointed Foreign Minister of the Maldives, H.E. Iruthisham Adam, in a high-level meeting aimed at strengthening bilateral relations and expanding cooperation between the two friendly countries.

The meeting was attended by senior Maldivian officials, including Foreign Secretary H.E. Fathimath Inaya, Secretary (South Asia) H.E. Aminath Shabeena, Additional Secretary Aminath Abdullah Didi, along with staff members of the Maldivian Foreign Ministry.
During the meeting, the High Commissioner extended warm congratulations to H.E. Iruthisham Adam on her appointment and conveyed felicitations on behalf of Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, H.E. Ishaq Dar.
Both sides acknowledged the longstanding and cordial relations between Pakistan and the Maldives, rooted in shared faith, mutual respect, and historical cooperation. Discussions focused on enhancing bilateral engagement and exploring new avenues for collaboration in multiple sectors.
The Maldivian Foreign Minister appreciated Pakistan’s regional diplomatic role, particularly its efforts in promoting dialogue and stability, including engagement aimed at encouraging peaceful resolution of regional issues. She also expressed Maldives’ support for Pakistan’s contributions toward peace and regional harmony.
The two sides reviewed future cooperation strategies aimed at further diversifying and strengthening bilateral relations into more tangible outcomes. Key areas of discussion included health, education, socio-economic development, youth empowerment, defence cooperation, and human resource development.
H.E. Iruthisham Adam also expressed gratitude for Pakistan’s continued support and assistance in capacity-building and development initiatives.
The High Commissioner reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to working closely with the Government of Maldives to deepen cooperation and advance shared interests through sustained diplomatic engagement.
