Karachi: Arts Council of Pakistan, Karachi, organised a colorful Dance Celebration to mark International Dance Day at Auditorium I, where renowned dancer Nighat Chaudhry and Sheema Kermani, along with prominent artists and dance groups from across the country, The International Dance Celebration began with a captivating classical performance by renowned dancer Sheema Kermani and Mani Chao, Director of the Arts Council of Pakistan Karachi Dance Academy, which entertained the audience.

This was followed by a series of classical, hip-hop, film, and breakdance performances, each energizing the crowd and creating a vibrant atmosphere on stage. Farrukh Darbar, Alizeh, Tabita Group, Ahmed, Ghani, Meesam, Wali, Maha Kazmi, Minha, Insha, Sara, Parathna, Angel, Meena, Shahzaib, Maya, Siraj, Haider, Arfeen, Noor, Shivanshu, Javeria, Shahzor, Nihal, Rocky, Muskan, Kum Kum, Yousha, Vinod, Waqas, Rohit and various dance groups delivered impressive performances. The dancers’ outstanding performances won the hearts of the audience, and the auditorium was filled to capacity. Speaking on the occasion, renowned dancer Nighat Chaudhry said that dance is not the heritage of any one individual; rather, every man and woman can express this art.

She added that dance is a discipline one must adopt. Classical dancer Sheema Kermani stated that Dance Day was first introduced in Pakistan in 1983 and has been celebrated every year since. She emphasized that it is essential to preserve cultural heritage from Mohenjo-daro to the present day. She further said that dance is not something bad or sinful; rather, it is a beautiful art that exists within human beings. She especially encouraged young women to learn dance, noting that it is a long and demanding process that requires years of dedication to master. During the celebration, differently-abled dancer Alizeh Akbar performed brilliantly on the famous song “Afreen Afreen,” receiving great appreciation from the audience.
