ISLAMABAD, April 23, 2026: The Oil and Gas Development Company Limited has announced the successful revival of gas production from its Jand-1 well in Attock district, marking a significant improvement in domestic energy output and operational recovery from previously shut-in reserves.

According to the company, the well is now producing over 21 million standard cubic feet per day (MMSCFD), a substantial increase from its earlier output of around 7 MMSCFD. The production restart follows recompletion and targeted stimulation work carried out by OGDC’s in-house technical teams.
The Jand-1 well was originally brought into production in 2019 via the Dakhni Gas Processing Plant but was later shut down due to mechanical failure caused by highly sour gas conditions, including hydrogen sulfide (H?S) levels of approximately 8 percent. The corrosive environment had created significant operational challenges.
OGDC stated that its engineers developed and executed a comprehensive revival strategy involving safe retrieval of downhole equipment and restoration of well integrity. The operation was conducted under strict health, safety, and environmental standards.
To ensure long-term stability, the well has now been recompleted using corrosion-resistant tubing designed specifically for sour gas production, improving both safety and operational efficiency.
The company emphasized that the successful restoration of Jand-1 reflects its focus on maximizing output from existing assets through technical innovation and efficient resource management.
Energy experts note that such recoveries are important for Pakistan’s domestic gas supply chain, especially as demand continues to rise and reliance on local production becomes increasingly critical.
