Government Making Full Efforts to Tackle the Situation, Says Ali Pervaiz Malik in Meeting with Abdul Sami Khan, Malik Khuda Bakhsh and Others

Karachi (April 03, 2026): Federal Minister for Petroleum and Natural Resources, Ali Pervaiz Malik, has said that the issue of petroleum dealers’ commission will be resolved on a priority basis once the prevailing war situation stabilizes. He added that the Petroleum Dealers Association has always effectively represented its members, and the government is fully aware of the challenges faced by petroleum dealers.

He expressed these views during a meeting in Islamabad with a delegation of the Pakistan Petroleum Dealers Association (PPDA), led by Chairman Abdul Sami Khan. The delegation included senior PPDA leaders Malik Khuda Bakhsh, Raja Waseem, Babar Chaudhry, Ashraf Meher, Chaudhry Faisal Arif, Chaudhry Zafar Elahi, and other members.

The minister stated that the government, with the support of the association, has been striving to provide relief to the public. He acknowledged that the current war-like situation is difficult, and the government is making all-out efforts to manage it. He assured that once conditions improve, the issue of dealers’ commission and other concerns will be addressed promptly.

Ali Pervaiz Malik further said that oil marketing companies are fully aware of the commission matter. The summary regarding the commission has already been signed by the Ministry of Petroleum and the Chairman of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR). However, due to the current challenging circumstances, the entire nation is facing difficulties. He added that from the Prime Minister and the cabinet to all relevant institutions, everyone is aware of the dealers’ demands. Although there is an established annual formula for increasing commissions, dealers must support the government in dealing with the current situation.

The minister appreciated the association for withdrawing its strike call in view of the national circumstances and said he had publicly thanked the association’s leadership on electronic media.

PPDA Chairman Abdul Sami Khan said that the strike call was withdrawn due to the war-like situation, as they did not want to add to the problems of the government or the public. However, he pointed out that rising costs have made it impossible to continue business under the existing commission rates.

Senior leader Malik Khuda Bakhsh stated that the margin for petroleum dealers is extremely low, making business operations difficult under current conditions, with several petrol pumps on the verge of closure. He urged the government to implement the previously agreed formula regarding margins. He also noted that the increase of Rs. 1.34 in commission over nearly two years has been linked to the auto-gauge system by the Prime Minister, and demanded that it be paid immediately instead.

He further demanded that once the situation stabilizes, the dealers’ margin should be fixed at a minimum of 8% in line with their investment. Malik Khuda Bakhsh also requested the minister to implement the presentation prepared by PPDA member Zafar Elahi and to formally document the minutes of the meeting between the ministry and the association. Later, PPDA member Zafar Elahi presented his report to Federal Minister Ali Pervaiz Malik.
