Karachi, March 27, 2026: Founder and Chairman of Saylani Welfare International Trust, Maulana Muhammad Bashir Farooq Qadri, has welcomed the federal government’s decisions regarding the austerity campaign and emphasized that the entire government machinery should be mobilized to ensure the policy’s success. He stated that strict enforcement of laws is the only effective way to bring about a change in national behavior.
He further remarked that giving importance to the proposals presented by Saylani for the austerity campaign is a positive step, which will not only strengthen the campaign but also help safeguard national resources. In a statement issued on Friday, he noted that the government has taken important decisions such as closing wedding halls at 10:00 PM, limiting the number of guests at events to 200, and implementing a one-dish policy. These measures, he said, were part of the recommendations put forward by Saylani, and it is now the responsibility of the Sindh government to ensure their implementation, an indication of which has also been given by Sharjeel Memon.
He termed these steps as welcome, adding that the country is currently facing significant economic challenges and such practical measures are essential to address them. Extravagance and unnecessary spending in wedding ceremonies, he said, not only create a social burden but also lead to wastage of food grains and other resources. He added that the teachings of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) emphasize simplicity in marriage, stating that the best marriage is the one with minimal expenses.
Maulana Bashir Farooq Qadri stressed that the real need now is to ensure complete and effective implementation of these government decisions. If these measures are implemented seriously, the austerity campaign will succeed and the country will witness a noticeable reduction in food and economic pressures.
He further stated that Saylani Welfare International Trust stands shoulder to shoulder with the government in this national campaign and has appealed to the public to adopt simplicity and support these measures.
