BRITAIN : For the first time, the call to prayer was heard at Old Trafford, one of the UK’s leading football stadiums. Not only that, but Manchester United also hosted an Iftar. The video of this historic moment is going viral on various social media platforms, sending a message of solidarity. The Manchester United Muslim Supporters Club (MUMSC) organised an Iftar in partnership with the club on Tuesday, which was attended by around 80 fans and special guests selected through a draw. The move is being hailed as a significant step forward in the club’s inclusiveness policy. Prominent figures at the event included Moroccan international defender Noussair Mazraoui, who joined Manchester United from Bayern Munich in 2024 and has been outspoken about fasting during Ramadan in line with his professional duties. His presence was seen as a sign of the club’s support for players and fans of all faiths. Manchester United Academy Coach Imran Hameed, a UEFA B license holder and a Premier League icon for the “No Room for Racism” campaign, also attended and inspired the young players. Manchester United Muslim Supporters Club President Asif Mahmood described the occasion as a long-held dream come true, saying that this evening marks a milestone for Muslim supporters at one of the world’s most renowned football clubs.
