BRITAIN : A distraught man in the UK climbed a high-voltage electricity pole, causing thousands of people to lose power. According to foreign media reports, witnesses said the incident occurred in Burgh House, West Yorkshire, where the man, who was reportedly suffering from depression, climbed an electricity pole near Sainsbury’s in the city center. According to media reports, police and rescue teams immediately reached the scene upon receiving information about the incident. According to a police spokesperson, the man climbed an electricity pole near Brighouse Marina at 9:15 a.m. yesterday, and emergency services were called after reports of his life being in danger. The statement said that the man came down on his own after a few hours, after which he was arrested. The incident caused power outages for approximately 20,000 homes in nearby areas, but the process of restoring power is ongoing. Earlier in 2017, a man was rescued from a 275 kV power line in Lancashire, hanging about 60 feet above the ground. Even then, he was safely brought down in a major rescue operation, but the mystery of how he got stuck there still remains.
