INDIA : An Indian YouTuber set fire to his studio in frustration after failing to gain followers. According to Indian media reports, a 27-year-old YouTuber named Vidhyak Prajapati set fire to the studio he built in his home in Garhwa district of Jharkhand state on Saturday night. Goods worth more than Rs 1 million were burnt in the incident. Vidhyak Prajapati used to run a film editing and digital work studio from his residence. The YouTuber’s neighbors have told the media that Vidhyak Prajapati had sold his ancestral land to build a modern studio and had hopes of achieving YouTube stardom, but when he could not gain followers even after several months, he fell into severe depression. The YouTuber had been isolating himself for the past week, and then on Saturday night at around 10 pm, he locked himself inside the studio and set it on fire. When Vidhyak Prajapati’s house filled with smoke and his family members started screaming, neighbors heard their screams and informed the police. After arriving at the scene, the police broke through a side wall, entered the house, and safely evacuated the YouTuber’s family. According to the report, Vidhyak Prajapati allegedly escaped from the scene by jumping over the back wall after setting the studio on fire and then his relatives managed to find him on Sunday morning and he is now undergoing treatment for mental problems.
