Karachi: A high-level delegation from the Republic of Côte d’Ivoire recently visited Karachi to participate in the Sustainable Tourism Forum and Expo, jointly organized by the International Center for Cultural Diplomacy (ICCD) and the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI).

During their visit, the Ivorian delegation explored various parts of the city, gaining firsthand exposure to Karachi’s rich cultural diversity, heritage, and urban life. The delegation also visited the Quaid-e-Azam Flagstaff, paying homage to Pakistan’s founding father and reflecting on the country’s historical legacy.

The delegation was hosted at a dinner by Honorary Consul of the Republic of Côte d’Ivoire in Karachi, Mr. Fazal Karim Dadabhoy, where discussions focused on strengthening bilateral relations and expanding cooperation in trade, tourism, and people-to-people exchanges.
Speaking on the occasion, the Honorary Consul noted that relations between Pakistan and Côte d’Ivoire are steadily expanding, with increasing interaction between the peoples of the two countries.

He highlighted that bilateral trade currently stands at approximately USD 200 million, while emphasizing that significant untapped potential exists to further enhance economic and commercial ties.

The visiting delegates expressed admiration for Karachi’s hospitality, local cuisine, traditional parathas and tea, vibrant culture, and pleasant weather. They warmly appreciated the similarities in traditions and values shared by the peoples of Pakistan and Côte d’Ivoire.

Earlier, the delegation met with the Honorary Consul General, who shared an overview of the Honorary Consulate’s efforts to promote bilateral friendship, cultural exchange, and economic cooperation. The delegation commended the consulate’s role in strengthening diplomatic and people-to-people linkages between the two countries.
As a gesture of goodwill and cultural exchange, the Honorary Consul presented Sindh’s traditional Ajrak to the visiting delegates. In return, the delegation planted a tree at the consulate premises, symbolizing enduring friendship, cooperation, and shared commitment to sustainability.

The visit underscored the growing warmth in Pakistan–Côte d’Ivoire relations and highlighted Karachi’s role as a hub for cultural diplomacy and international engagement.
