KARACHI / ISLAMABAD (January 12, 2026): Senator Waqar Mehdi, General Secretary of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Sindh Chapter, has expressed grave concern over widespread complaints of unannounced gas outages, load-shedding, and critically low gas pressure across various parts of Sindh, including Karachi, and has urged Prime Minister Mian Shehbaz Sharif to take immediate notice of the acute gas crisis amid the severe winter season.
In his statement, Senator Waqar Mehdi said that regardless of the season—summer or winter—the citizens of Karachi continue to suffer due to persistent gas shutdowns, critically low pressure, and frequent load-shedding. He added that the Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) has failed to ensure a normal and uninterrupted gas supply, yet continues to issue gas bills running into thousands of rupees despite prolonged outages and repeated load-shedding.
Senator Waqar Mehdi said that Prime Minister Mian Shehbaz Sharif must take immediate notice of the worsening gas crisis in Karachi and ensure strict and exemplary action against those responsible for inflicting undue hardship on the public.
