Hyderabad : Chairman of the Hyderabad SITE Association of Trade and Industry, Zubair Ghangra, has expressed deep concern over the extremely poor and hazardous condition of the Passport Office Road, as well as other key roads within the SITE Industrial Zone.
He stated that these roads are in a severe state of disrepair, with potholes, uneven surfaces, and broken sections causing significant difficulties for regular traffic. For loaded trucks, trailers, and commercial vehicles, the roads have become nearly impassable. This has resulted in delays in the transport of industrial goods, frequent traffic congestion, and disruption to business operations.
Chairman Ghangra further pointed out that the combination of damaged roads and inadequate lighting has turned the area into an easy target for criminals during nighttime. Factory owners, industrial staff, and truck drivers have reportedly faced robberies and harassment, creating a climate of fear and insecurity within the industrial community.
He emphasized that the problem is not only affecting business operations but also putting the safety, property, and dignity of citizens at serious risk. Without urgent attention, a major accident or untoward incident could occur at any moment.
Chairman Ghangra also highlighted his concerns regarding the PKR 1.10 billion development funds approved by the Sindh Government for improving the SITE Hyderabad infrastructure,
noting that these funds have not been fully released. He objected to the use of these funds for development projects without the recommendations and approval of the Coordination Committee, stressing that all projects should obtain committee approval to ensure funds are used in a transparent, fair, and efficient manner.
The Chairman urged the Sindh Government, SITE Limited, and the district administration to immediately repair, resurface, and complete not only the Passport Office Road but also all major access and internal roads within the SITE Industrial Zone. He also called for the installation of adequate street lighting and effective security arrangements to ensure safe and smooth movement for citizens, industry owners, and transporters.
He added that the industrial growth of Hyderabad is directly linked to improvements in basic infrastructure, and neglecting these issues could have serious negative effects on industry, employment, and the overall economy.
Chairman Ghangra expressed hope that the concerned authorities will take urgent notice of this critical issue and take immediate practical measures to repair the roads and enhance security across the entire industrial zone.
