BISP is Pakistan’s largest social protection programme; for the first time in history, digital accounts of 10 million women are being opened; this initiative will eliminate fraud and corruption and ensure transparency in the payment system; SIMs for the Social Protection Wallet are being provided absolutely free of cost; under the Benazir Hunarmand Programme, members of deserving families will be made economically independent; women should be brave like Bibi Shaheed and identify corrupt elements, strict action will be taken; the world is learning from the experiences of BISP; the survey will be conducted every three years to include more deserving beneficiaries in the programme: Senator Rubina Khalid remarked during a media briefing in Karachi
Chairperson Benazir Income Support Program (BISP), Senator Rubina Khalid, visited the Tehsil Office Aram Bagh, District South, and the Dynamic Registry Center in Karachi today. On this occasion, Deputy Mayor Karachi Salman Abdullah Murad and BISP officers welcomed her.
During the visit, Senator Rubina Khalid directly interacted with women present at the Dynamic Registry Center, listened to their concerns, and provided satisfactory answers to their questions. She advised women to obtain the free SIMs issued for the Social Protection Wallet at the earliest to ensure transparency and convenience in the payment process.
While talking to the media, the Chairperson BISP stated that the Benazir Income Support Program is Pakistan’s largest social protection program and that the PPP leadership is committed to ensuring complete transparency in payments to women. She said that the Social Protection Wallet has been introduced to eliminate fraud and corruption, under which digital accounts of 10 million women are being opened for the first time in the world.
Senator Rubina Khalid further said that the Benazir Hunarmand Program has been launched to make people economically independent, under which modern skills courses will be provided to women and their children. She clarified that the SIM for the Social Protection Wallet is being provided absolutely free of cost and that all BISP services are completely free.
The Chairperson BISP appealed to the women to report anyone involved in fraud or exploitation in the name of BISP, assuring that strict action will be taken. She said that Benazir Bhutto was a brave leader and that women should draw strength from her courage and determination. She urged women to be fearless like Bibi Shaheed, stand up against corrupt elements, and encouraged mothers, sisters, and daughters not to hesitate in identifying corruption.
She added that BISP is a program from which the entire world is learning today. In the past, under previous policies, some Class-IV government employees also benefited from the program; however, this is no longer the case. She said that a fresh survey will now be conducted every three years, and those who are economically better off will not remain part of the program, ensuring inclusion of more deserving families.
Concluding her remarks, Senator Rubina Khalid said that this world is temporary and everyone will be accountable before Allah Almighty for their actions. She urged people not to deprive helpless and vulnerable women of their rights, but instead to become their support.
