Karachi: Bargah-e-Adab International hosted a tea reception in honour of poet Rahat Zahid and singer Jamal Akbar at Beach View Club under the title “Samandar, Chai Aur Khoobsurat Shaam” Prominent figures from literary and cultural circles, including Aftab Alam Qureshi, Rehana Roohi, Ayub-ul-Hassan, Kamran Usman, Afroze Rizvi, Dr. Sikandar Mutrib, Rais Khan, Mansoor Sahir, Naseem, Shahid Fahad, Gul Afshan, and Sharmeen Kanwal, were
in attendance.
A poetry session was also held on the occasion, while Jamal Akbar captivated the audience with his vocal performance.
Speaking at the event, Sabin Saif, Chairperson of Bargah-e-Adab International, said that recognizing literary and artistic personalities is essential for a healthy society. She said that through her poetry, Rahat Zahid, and through his music, Jamal Akbar have contributed to spreading hope and positivity. She added that both represent Pakistan’s positive image internationally.
Expressing her gratitude, Rahat Zahid thanked Bargah-e-Adab International for organizing the event and stressed the importance of continuing to honour individuals associated with literature and the arts.
Singer Jamal Akbar said that such initiatives are encouraging at a time when the younger generation is distancing itself from books and classical music, adding that cultural events play a vital role in preserving artistic traditions.
