ISLAMABAD,PAKISTAN : Denmark’s newly appointed Ambassador to Pakistan, Maja Derrous Mortensen, has completed her first month in office — a month marked by exceptional diplomatic activity, cultural engagement, and high-level interactions.

From the moment of her arrival, Ambassador Mortensen made an energetic start. She officially began her diplomatic mission by presenting her credentials to the President of Pakistan. This was followed by a series of significant meetings with the Prime Minister, as well as the Federal Ministers for Finance, Maritime Affairs, and Commerce. These engagements reaffirmed Denmark’s commitment to advancing green solutions, sustainable infrastructure, and expanding bilateral trade.

Strengthening cultural diplomacy, the Ambassador hosted her first official event, “An Evening of Music & Friendship,” at the Danish Residence. The gathering brought together Danish partners and friends in Pakistan and featured captivating performances by Danish musicians collaborating with talented young artists from Hunza, along with a qawwali ensemble from Lahore — a vibrant celebration of cultural exchange and friendship.
In a packed schedule, Ambassador Mortensen also made her first television appearance, visited the lively Lok Mela, recorded her introductory social media message, and even joined the Danish Embassy staff for a friendly cricket match.
Her first intercity visit took her to Lahore and Narowal, where she inaugurated a Denmark-funded student incubation center at a local university alongside the Federal Minister for Planning, Development & Special Initiatives — underscoring Denmark’s focus on youth development and innovation in Pakistan.
Despite the whirlwind of engagements — and perhaps a few events still uncounted — the Ambassador’s first month has clearly set the tone for an active and impactful tenure.
With her strong start, Ambassador Maja Derrous Mortensen is poised to deepen Denmark’s partnership with Pakistan, especially in areas of climate action, green growth, and sustainable development.
