Karachi October 25, 2025: BankIslami, one of Pakistan’s fastest-growing Islamic financial
institutions, reported a profit before tax (PBT) of PKR 10.88 billion for the nine months ended
September 2025, further strengthening its efforts to build a Riba (interest)-free financial
ecosystem in the country.
The Bank recorded a 107% year-on-year growth in Non-Funded Income, while its deposit base
grew by 8.3%, including a 20.9% surge in Qard-based Current Accounts, reflecting growing
public preference for Riba-free, Shariah compliant banking and financial transparency. The
Bank's CASA ratio also rose to a record 69%, while the Capital Adequacy Ratio remained strong
at 17.78%, well above regulatory requirements.
Aligned with its mission of “Saving Humanity from Riba”, BankIslami continued to invest
aggressively in its future roadmap. The Bank launched “aik”, Pakistan’s first fully Islamic digital
banking platform, upgraded its core banking infrastructure, expanded its nationwide physical
branch footprint, and acquired a 32-storey tower in Karachi to establish its new head office.
These strategic investments in technology, infrastructure and people, aimed at long-term market
leadership, resulted in a 44% rise in operating expenses during the period.
Commenting on the financial performance, President & CEO, Rizwan Ata, commented:
“These results show steady growth and improved performance. We have not only strengthened
our balance sheet but also accelerated our digital and service transformation to meet evolving
customer expectations. Our focus remains clear: to create long-term value for our customers and
continue investing in future growth to redefine the Islamic banking landscape in Pakistan.”
With a network of 550+ branches across 210+ cities, BankIslami provides a full suite of Shariah-
compliant products and services across retail, corporate, cash management, investment banking,
trade and home remittances. Guided by its mission, the Bank continues its journey of shaping the
future of Islamic banking in Pakistan.
