Seminar on Artificial Intelligence conducted at Bahria University

KARACHI – Pakistan Japan Intellectual Forum (PJIF) conducted a one-day seminar on “Artificial intelligence (AI)” in collaboration with Bahria University and Consulate-General of Japan in Karachi at Bahria University Auditorium on September 20.

AI is the theory and development of computer systems able to perform tasks normally requiring human intelligence, such as visual perception, speech recognition, decision-making, and translation between languages. The field has unimaginable potential only a fraction of which is being utilized for a wide range of activities including medical diagnosis, electronic trading platforms, robot control, and remote sensing.

The purpose of the seminar was to create more awareness about the significance of AI among students and also introduce them to the local organizations working for the promotion of AI such as School of AI and Robotics (SOAR).

Director General Bahria University, Rear admiral Mukhtar Khan gave opening remarks after which, experts threw light on various aspects of AI and its application in numerous fields and industries, including healthcare, education, transportation and defense. 

Consul-General of Japan in Karachi, Mr. Toshikazu Isomura touched upon his observations in Pakistan during his diplomatic career and viewed that the scope of AI can be broaden here despite the availability of cheap human labour. He also hoped that the advance progress of Japan in the field could also benefit Pakistanis seeking to work in the field of AI, leading towards greater bilateral collaboration. 

PJIF President, Mr.  Iqbal Burma thanked Bahria University and Consulate-General of Japan in Karachi for lending their support. Seminar was concluded with distribution of shields and certificates.
