The Pakistani passport has made significant progress in international travel rankings, now earning a place among the world’s top 100 passports, according to the Henley Passport Index 2025. Pakistani citizens can now travel to 32 countries without a visa or obtain a visa on arrival, marking a positive shift in global mobility for the country.

This improvement reflects a broader effort by Pakistani authorities to enhance the passport’s global credibility. The Director General of Passports lauded the achievement, crediting it to the incorporation of advanced security features and adherence to international standards. Ongoing modernization and reform have played a key role in boosting the passport’s standing.

From a ranking of 113th in 2021, the Pakistani passport has now climbed to 100th place in 2025 — an encouraging sign of growing international acceptance, even though it still trails behind many regional counterparts.

Some of the countries that now allow visa-free or visa-on-arrival access to Pakistani passport holders include:

  • Barbados
  • Cambodia
  • Cape Verde
  • Comoros
  • Djibouti
  • Dominica
  • Kenya
  • Maldives
  • Nepal
  • Qatar
  • Rwanda
  • Samoa
  • Senegal
  • Seychelles
  • Sri Lanka
  • Trinidad and Tobago
  • Vanuatu, among others.

Officials also announced plans to further digitize passport services, enhance identity verification systems, and combat document fraud — with the goal of improving ease of international travel and strengthening Pakistan’s global ties.
