In a significant development for Pakistan’s electric vehicle (EV) industry, China’s Skywell New Energy Vehicles Group has signed an agreement with the Punjab government to establish a large-scale EV assembly plant in one of the province’s Special Economic Zones (SEZs).
Under the agreement, Skywell will set up operations on 75 acres of land, where it plans to manufacture a range of electric vehicles — including electric buses, cars, two-wheelers, and three-wheelers.
The memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed between Punjab Minister for Industries and Commerce Chaudhry Shafay Hussain and Skywell CEO Mr. Biwan Han during a ceremony held at the Punjab Small Industries Corporation (PSIC) office.
Minister Hussain welcomed the investment, reaffirming the Punjab government’s commitment to promoting green mobility and industrialization. He assured full support to EV investors, including those working in battery production and charging infrastructure development.
Skywell’s CEO Mr. Han expressed the company’s intention to cater to both local markets and international exports, stressing Skywell’s long-term vision to help expand EV adoption in Pakistan.
This partnership marks another key step in advancing clean transportation and attracting foreign investment into Pakistan’s growing electric vehicle ecosystem.
