The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast heavy rain and strong windstorms in various parts of the country during the Eidul Adha holidays, raising safety concerns for residents and travelers.
Rainfall has already begun in areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa such as Mansehra, Balakot, Kaghan Valley, and Babusar Top, resulting in a drop in temperatures and cooler conditions in the region.
The PMD cautioned that from June 3 to June 5, widespread rain and powerful windstorms are expected in:
- Islamabad, Murree, Rawalpindi
- Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Jammu & Kashmir
- Chitral, Dir, Swat, Kohistan
- Upper and Central Punjab
- Various parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa
There is also a risk of hailstorms and landslides in some mountainous regions, particularly affecting infrastructure and road safety. A specific warning was issued for Monday evening as storm systems begin impacting northern areas.
Tourists heading to hill stations for Eid celebrations are advised to monitor updates and avoid travel during peak weather activity for safety.
