Karachi – On Wednesday, March 19, The “Japanese Calendar Exhibition 2025” was inaugurated at the Avari Towers by the Consulate-General of Japan in Karachi. Foreign dignitaries, academic scholars, professionals, and local residents gathered to appreciate around 80 different Japanese calendars presented by Japan Calendar Publishers Cooperative Union (JCAL). Japan, with its unique geographical location, has since time immemorial had four distinct seasons: spring, summer, fall, and winter, which are deeper and more colorful than other countries. The calendar plays an important role in the Japanese people’s experience of the four seasons and is an indispensable tool in many people’s lives. After the ribbon-cutting ceremony, the invited guests explored varieties of calendar depicting aspects of Japanese culture, including Ikebana, Japanese gardens, and natural scenery in the exhibition hall.
In his speech, Acting Consul General NAKAGAWA Yasushi highlighted that these calendars would play an important role in portraying Japan to the Pakistani people.

He also expressed his sincere gratitude for the friendship shown to Japan by the Pakistani government and people during the relief efforts following the earthquake and Tsunami on March 11, 2011. Chief Guest Additional Home Secretary Sindh Mr. Iqbal Memon said understanding each other’s cultures would bring the two nations and governments together. The exhibition is open to the public on March 20, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Admission is free.
