KCCI Hosts Free Medical Camp to Support Members and the General Public

Karachi: In a bid to serve both its members and the broader community, the Karachi Chamber of Commerce & Industry (KCCI) partnered with Dr. Essa Laboratory & Diagnostic Centre, Al-Mustafa Welfare Trust, Khadim-e-Insaniyat, and the Pakistan Eye Bank Society to organize a Free Medical Camp at its premises. The event was well-attended by KCCI members and individuals from various backgrounds, reflecting the wide-ranging impact of the initiative.
The camp offered a range of essential healthcare services, including tests for blood sugar, cholesterol, bone mineral density, and complete blood count (CBC), alongside expert consultations from qualified general physicians and dermatologists.
President KCCI Muhammad Jawed Bilwani, Senior Vice President Zia ul Arfeen, Vice President Faisal Khalil Ahmed, Chairman of the Education and Welfare Subcommittee Farhan Ashrafi, along with other members of the KCCI Managing Committee also visited the Camp.
In his remarks, KCCI President Muhammad Jawed Bilwani commended the collaboration with Dr. Essa Laboratory & Diagnostic Centre, Al-Mustafa Welfare Trust, Khadim-e-Insaniyat, and the Pakistan Eye Bank Society for their valuable partnership in making the event a success. He emphasized that KCCI has long been dedicated to addressing the challenges faced by not just the business community, but also the citizens of Karachi.
“KCCI is steadfast in its commitment to the welfare of humanity. While we focus on supporting the business environment, we also invest in social causes that contribute to the betterment of society. Today’s medical camp is an example of our continued efforts,” Bilwani said.
President KCCI also highlighted the pressing issues facing Pakistan’s healthcare system, pointing out that the country’s growing population has outpaced the expansion of healthcare infrastructure. Despite efforts by both public and private healthcare providers, millions of citizens continue to face long waiting times, especially in government hospitals.
Bilwani underscored the critical challenge of inadequate funding for the health sector, noting that Pakistan’s limited healthcare budget is insufficient to meet the needs of its population. He called for a reduction in the cost of essential medical tests and greater investment in state-owned hospitals, which are currently struggling with limited resources.
“It is essential that basic health check-ups become more accessible to everyone. The government must prioritize funding for public healthcare and ensure better conditions in government hospitals to improve the overall health infrastructure,” Bilwani stressed.
He further praised the work of Dr. Essa Laboratories, Al-Mustafa Welfare Trust, Khadim-e-Insaniyat, and the Pakistan Eye Bank Society, noting that these organizations are leaders in the healthcare sector. “Their unwavering commitment to quality service, affordability, and humanitarian care serves as a model for others,” he concluded.
