New Delhi: The unusual demands of the bride during the honeymoon of a newly married couple in Saharanpur in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh led to a conflict between the two families, after which the matter was referred to the local police. According to Deccan Chronicle, the incident took place during the traditional “Manha Baxi” ceremony. The bride allegedly asked her husband for beer, hashish and goat meat. The husband initially accommodated the demand for beer, but things turned sour when the bride insisted on other items. Confused by the demands of the bride, the groom confided in his family. The groom’s family found the bride’s demands unacceptable and decided to approach the police. Both the families reached the police station, where the matter was discussed in detail. During counselling, the groom’s family made a surprising claim that the bride was not a woman but belonged to the third gender. This allegation made the situation more complicated. Despite the dramatic circumstances, neither side filed a formal complaint. The police tried to resolve the matter by having a discussion between the two families. After the intervention of the police, both the families left the station and expressed their intention to resolve the issue personally. Although the issue remains tense, no legal action has been taken, and the groom’s family is trying to resolve the issue on its own.
