Karachi: On the occasion of World Standards Day, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has issued a message highlighting Pakistan’s commitment to international standards and quality control. The Prime Minister emphasized the vital role of the Pakistan Standards and Quality Control Authority (PSQCA) in promoting standardization among domestic manufacturers, fostering a culture of excellence across the nation.
This year’s theme, “Shared Vision for a Better World,” set by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), underscores the importance of reliability and trust in both manufacturing and service sectors. In his message, the Prime Minister noted that standards are the bedrock of seamless daily life and encouraged reassessment of the competitiveness of Pakistani products in the global market.
Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif further stated, “In line with our commitment to public safety, health, and the environment, I am proud to highlight that the PSQCA has developed rigorous safety standards for automotive vehicles to protect the lives of our citizens. Notably, we have set a limit of 2% on industrially produced Trans Fatty Acids (iTFA) in food products, a critical step towards reducing cardiovascular diseases in Pakistan.”
He reiterated that the growth of Pakistan’s exports is intrinsically linked to compliance with international standards. “This alignment not only promotes global consumer confidence in Pakistani products but also broadens opportunities for our businesses worldwide, stimulating further economic growth.”
The Prime Minister called upon all stakeholders to engage actively in the standardization process, ensuring that Pakistan continues to progress towards a better, healthier, and more prosperous future.
