Beirut, Lebanon – Tensions are escalating in Lebanon after Israeli warplanes flew low over Beirut while Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah spoke about recent deadly attacks. These attacks killed at least 37 people and injured nearly 3,000, adding to fears of a coming war. Since October 8, clashes between Hezbollah and Israel have resulted in over 600 deaths, including more than 100 civilians.
In his speech, Nasrallah called the attacks a “terrorist operation” and an “act of genocide.” He admitted the damage was severe but expressed determination, saying any Israeli invasion would be an “opportunity.” He also challenged Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, insisting that Israel would not be able to bring settlers back to their homes near the border.
Despite his strong words, Nasrallah did not say when or how Hezbollah would respond, leaving many uncertain about the future. As both sides prepare for possible further conflict, calls for peace are becoming increasingly urgent.
